Privacy Policy

Guitarly ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Guitarly mobile application and website at guitarly.app, how we use it, and what choices you have.

By using Guitarly, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create a Guitarly account, we collect your email address, a password (stored only as a secure one-way hash — we never see or store your plain-text password), and your display name. We also store your instrument preference, self-reported skill level, and handedness, which you provide during onboarding.

Practice data

To power your practice stats and daily coaching, we collect:

• Practice sessions: which song or arrangement, how many minutes, and an accuracy score
• Chords or transitions you've marked or detected as weak spots
• Favorited songs
• Streaks and aggregate practice statistics, derived from the above

AI coaching

When you request a daily practice plan, a summary of your practice history, weak spots, and available time is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your plan. This request does not include your email, password, or any other account-identifying information beyond what's needed to build the plan.

Uploaded audio (if you use it)

If you upload or link a song for transcription into a chord chart, that source is associated with your account so we can track the job and return your result.

Purchase information

Subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of your subscription status through RevenueCat but never receive or store your payment card details.

2. How we use your information

• Provide and operate the Guitarly application
• Generate your daily AI practice plan
• Track your practice stats, streaks, and mastery over time
• Maintain your subscription entitlement
• Respond to support requests

3. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make the app work: Anthropic (AI coaching requests), RevenueCat (subscription status), and our hosting provider (Railway) for the database and API. Each is bound to use your data only to provide their service to us.

4. Your choices

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing privacy@guitarly.app.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the effective date above when we do, and material changes will be communicated in the app.
